Did you know that in 2000, Bush won 80% of the non-black Muslim vote? By 2004, 4%. This describes how the "party of conservatism" -- but also of frightened white men and religious bigotry -- drove a naturally conservative demographic into Democratic arms. It's a fairly long blog post, but well worth reading.

People worried about a split between the electoral and popular votes, but that's actually the situation we face in the House of Representativies. Americans cast more votes for Democratic candidates, but thanks to extreme GOP gerrymandering -- approved by the 5 Republican Supreme Court justices -- the GOP claims a majority of seats.

The backlash from vote suppression efforts. How conservative media failed conservatism. The rape problem. Big spending failed.

A map of countries with universal health care. The text mis-describes the UK NHS as a compulsory insurance scheme; that's Germany or Israel, not the UK.

Facebooks's election turnout experiment, and the unexplained fact that young people are voting at 50% rates now, vs. the 37% of 1996.

Less than half of the new Democratic House causus will be white men.

Making Light starts a wingnut collection.

Stross on communist Obama: "How come if Barack Obama is a communist he hasn't nationalized AAPL and GOOG, capped incomes at a 10x multiplier of the mean, and billeted homeless people in every millionaire's McMansion with over 3000 square feet of floor space?" Actually he's a moderate Republican, too bad the Republican party doesn't have room for them any more.

Why men shouldn't vote.
