League poll

In the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comic, did you think Mina Harker had acquired any powers from her time with Dracula, like slow aging or physical toughness or a mental domination ability explaining her ability to stare down Hyde?  I always thought all she acquired were scars and experience, and that her "powers" were simply being smart, willful, and Victorian.  But some rasfw posters disagreed, at least speculatively.

Separately, I got Order of the Stick books -- not just a compilation, but a character prequel never online.  Whee!

In the story itself (Vol 1-2) I don't recall any sign of supernatural powers, just that she seems to be a woman of unusual talent. However, all the above-mentioned abilities could have been used but left unnoticed due to their rather subtle nature.

However, the reader in the back of Volume 2 (and some comments made by Mr. Moore) imply that Mina remains active and perhaps youthful for a unusually long period of time, so there is some evidence that she might have slowed aging.

Yeah, one of the posters referred to the back stuff. I didn't take in much of that material, though.

Slowed aging wouldn't be a big deal, anyway. Staring down Hyde because she had vampire powers would be a big change to how I viewed their characters.

Honestly, that's a question I'd probably pose to [info]ratmmjess, since he ... well ... wrote the book on it. Literally. (Also, this second book.)

My understanding of the upcoming third volume is that Harker is again in the storyline, in the 1950s, not having aged at all. That said, I can't remember where I heard this (probably from [info]moonandserpent), and I'm not sure how accurate this is.

...or rather, I looked around a little before posting, and apparently the Black Dossier is in DC's hands and will be published soon. There's a third volume that will come out, probably next year, and it will span a century of time in the world of the League.

So there's a strong probability that Mina is somehow supernaturally-powered from her time with D. I have always assumed there was.
